We nearly always forget to carry business cards and we may not be alone in this. “InTooch” (sic) is an iPhone/Android app aimed at making business cards unnecessary.

“SnapHeal” removes unwanted items from photos. It’s $8 in the Mac app store. Say you’ve got a big trash can in the photo, blocking part of the beauty of the beach, or the beauty on the beach. To get rid of it, mark it and click “erase.” If it’s a skinny object, like a telephone pole, the program has tools to fine-tune the selection before you click erase.

EarthSky.org shows you where to look for planets and star formations visible with the naked eye. Jupiter and Venus are visible in the eastern sky this month. Jupiter will be visible right through December. We were amazed by how bright it is. Bob thought it was an approaching comet, but Google saved him from panicking. Venus is most visible around dawn. (Are they watching Earth?)

Some people want to stop using their landline phone and rely only on a cell phone, but they can’t: The landline sends the message when the burglar alarm goes off. So we looked at “SimpliSafe,” a burglar alarm that doesn’t need a phone.
