We got some criticism when we wrote about the Freemake Video Downloader, a free program that saves YouTube videos to your hard drive. It’s technically illegal to download stuff from YouTube, but if it’s just for your private use, it’s unlikely that the techno cops will come knocking at your door.

So you sometimes see a video online that you want to save offline? Who doesn’t? Freemake.com just came out with a new version of its free video downloader tool. It lets you save videos from Facebook, YouTube, ComedyCentral, Vimeo, MTV, and 50 others places.

YouTube.com/editor is where you can edit your videos. They’ve just added a “creative commons” feature. CreativeCommons.org has free videos and images. Click the CreativeCommons “CC” tab in the YouTube editor to use other people’s videos as your own, or return the favor by posting yours. More info at youtube.com/t/creative_commons

Go to YouTube.com to walk inside a computer 20 times larger than normal. It was set up at Boston’s Computer Museum but is no longer there. The video is from 1990, but has inspired thousands to learn about computers. Search on “How Computers Work,” then take a walk through the computer.
