The Kindle eReader is now Amazon’s best-selling product, even outselling book seven of the Harry Potter Series. In other Amazon news, on November 29, Amazon.com sold 158 items a second. A few of those items, including “Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul,” were shipped to really remote places, including the hamlet of Grise Fiord, north of the Arctic Circle in Canada. Other fun facts: “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” was the most purchased Kindle book on Christmas Day. “The Dork Diaries” saw the greatest gain in popularity on Christmas Day and is in the top 500 Kindle books. We were in Northern California recently and visited a very techie friend whose Bluetooth headset was always near his ear. It looked odd, but it’s a good idea really. You’re not fumbling for your phone when it rings, or risking the radiation that comes from holding it next to your ear for long periods. If we were heavy users (we only make three or four calls a month), we’d take a look at three new hands-free devices from Motorola: Finiti, CommandOne and Roadster. All three headsets are getting good reviews for their call quality. Finiti is the fanciest of the three. It encrypts your files and your whole web browsing experience.  Install it on a flash drive and browse the web using that drive with any computer. This is very handy for online banking and other private activities. No record of your actions remain on the computer when you remove the flash drive. A free version of this software is available at the company’s web site but does not include the private web browser.
