The easiest way to share a photo from your smartphone is to tap on the little thumbnail picture in the photo gallery. Next tap the “share” icon, and choose one of the options, such as email. That’s the quick way, but old-fashioned printing isn’t going away.

The most outdoor fun Joy had this summer was riding a Segway on a Chicago architectural tour, gliding around the museums on a path bordering Lake Michigan. Segways are electric scooters that respond to your body movements, You stand upright and hold a handlebar; lean forward and you go. At $7,000 we’re not about to buy one but an alternative will be out soon for half that.

Refrl.org (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) has an interesting graph on Middle Eastern relationships between nine countries as well as the Hamas organization. Example: Click on a dot to connecting Russia to Hamas and get a pop-up explaining Russia’s support of what the U.S. calls a terrorist organization. The chart is hard to find on the site but comes right up if you Google “Middle East Relationships”

Science.Time.com has science articles from Time Magazine. We read about the “dead zone” in the Gulf of Mexico, an oxygen-deprived area of water. It was predicted that this year’s dead zone would be the size of New Jersey. Now it’s only the size of Connecticut.
