THEIR LIFE IN COMICS
The Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson is a great read at over 500 pages, but you might prefer the comic book version, which we saw on Amazon for $1.07. Now there’s a Bill Gates comic. You can get the print version at your local comic book store or the Kindle edition on Amazon. The Gates bio goes back to his earliest days writing machine code in zeroes and ones. Coming soon are the comic bios of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. You can pre-order the Brin/Page comic book at Amazon for $8.

APP FOR COUPLES
Avocado, for iPhone and Android, helps couples create to-do lists, share pictures, send quick notes and private pictures. It’s named “Avocado” because avocado trees only bear fruit when they’re near each other. Isn’t that cute?

READING RAINBOW APP FOR KIDS
Reading Rainbow is a new iPad app modeled after the former hit TV show for kids. It offers hundreds of children’s books, each of which comes with games, puzzles and special visual effects. The app and the first book are free; after that it’s $10 a month. Children choose categories for their book choices — such as “wizards and fairies,” “pirates,” “princes and princesses” or just “things that go,” such as cars, trains and planes Age groups run at “4 and under” up to “9 and over.” This app may be enough to finally get our youngest relative away from “Plants vs. Zombies.”
