A new way to use Facebook has people flocking to it, so to speak. That way is called Flock, a new Web browser, like Mozilla’s Firefox or Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. What this one does is let you bring Facebook friends with you as you surf the World Wide Web.

A new free Web browser is our new favorite. It’s called Maxthon . This browser keeps a record of where you’ve been. When you reopen it, a message asks if you want to start again where you left off in the last session. If you had a dozen Web sites open, they’ll all be there again, each with its own tab.

An alert reader wrote to mention that the “Zone Alarm ForceField,” we wrote about recently looks and acts like the “GreenBorder,” we wrote about a few years ago. Both programs create a protective shield when you browse the web.

The News: You can use Google for an easy way to see summaries of all your favorite Web sites and blogs. Go to www.google.com/reader and enter the search terms for news you want summarized. The Views: A helpful reader reminded us of a site we found a year ago and then forgot. It’s www.irfanview.com and what it has is a great free program for converting image and multimedia files between formats.
