All those shortcuts on your Windows desktop take up a lot of system resources. Bob recently sped up his computer quite a bit just by deleting half of the colorful icons that cluttered up his screen. (Joy told him to do it.) Mind you, you’re not deleting the underlying program when you remove the shortcut. You can still get to it by clicking “start,” and then “programs.” Other clutter items are the installation programs left behind whenever you install new software. Once you’ve installed it, why hold on to the installer?
