KEEPING A NEW LAPTOP

To preserve your laptop’s battery, unplug it once in awhile and let the battery drain. Above all, don’t let it overheat.
Joy’s laptop rests on a piece of wood, to let air circulate underneath. If you want a more elegant solution, consider “Gadget feet,” $20 from GadgetFeet.com. They’re stick-on feet for laptops, iPads and tablets. Besides letting air circulate, they let you type in a more comfortable position. You can also buy such stick-on feet for much less at almost any hardware store.
