The Android appears to be eating iPhones. A Piper Jaffray report predicts that the iPhone will be left with from 20% to 30% of the market versus more than 50% for Android by 2015. Others are predicting a 50-50 market split by the end of next year.

The reason is that the Android operating system works with many smart phones, while Apple’s  is only on the iPhone. Android is also given away free to smart-phone manufacturers.  The report also predicts that Nokia, and RIM, the maker of the Blackberry, will eventually stop making their own software and will choose between the Android and Microsoft Windows systems.
