Instead of logging in and out of email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and similar services, why not have them all accessible at once? Digsby is a utility that makes bouncing around a lot simpler by putting a tiny icon for each one of those services at the bottom of your computer screen. Click on an icon and you get the latest updates from that service. It also allows you to send instant messages in response to whatever comes up.

Right now, Joy’s Gmail icon shows 34 new messages and her Facebook account has 14 new updates. Whenever someone on Joy’s Twitter list bangs out one of those 140-character announcements, a little pop-up shows the message on the bottom of her screen. If she missed it, clicking on the Twitter icon in the taskbar gives her the whole list of twits and their twitters. If all this starts driving you nuts, you can just turn it off.
