Wireless Networks“Building Wireless Sensor Networks,” by Robert Faludi; $35 at

This is going to cause some quick rewrites of scripts for crime shows and movies. You know the scene in which the master criminal gains access to the burglar alarm system and cuts the wires that activate it? Well that won’t work here, because this system has no wires.

The author tells us how to set up systems using all kinds of sensors tied together by the ZigBee wireless protocol, Xbee radio boards, and Arduino processors from Italy. What, you didn’t understand a word of that? (Well, you got some of the words.) Don’t worry, we didn’t either. But after a few pages, you’re in and up and running. By the time your halfway through, you’re dangerous.
