mybookThe “My Book” external storage drive from Western Digital is one of the first “Super Speed” drives.

The drive uses the latest 3.0 USB connections to achieve some remarkable speed in transferring data. The company claims that My Book is ten times faster at data transfer than the best drive now on the market.  Of course these claims always depend on some unusual setup that the user is unlikely to encounter in normal use. In practical tests conducted by PC World magazine, the drive was four to five times faster, however, which is pretty impressive.

To use the My Book at top speed, you need a USB 3.0 adapter card. The one terabyte My Book comes with the card for $200 and has a two-year warranty.
