wordpadThere are several free alternatives to Microsoft Word, but the simplest of all is already included in your Windows computer, no matter what version you have.

It’s called “WordPad,” and it’s a stripped-down version of Word — just the essentials. Find it in Windows XP and Windows 7 by clicking “start,” “accessories,” and then move down till you see “WordPad.” In Windows 8, tap the Windows key (looks like a flag) and then start typing WordPad. When you see it listed, click it.
