“Future Text” is a free app for your phone that lets you write text messages now and send them any time up to 30 days later. They have a $2 version that lets you write text messages now and have them sent up to a year later. (We could see this as a plot device in some mystery show.)

We’ve never been big fans of text messaging, but we suppose that if you regularly send birthday greetings or reminders to clients and acquaintances, “Future Text” might be a good way to get them done in one swoop.

Early reviews by users are critical of one thing: Your message isn’t sent automatically. On the scheduled day, you get a pop-up message on your phone and then have to click OK to send on the message you recorded earlier. But we see this as a good thing; you might easily decide the message you wrote and stored earlier isn’t appropriate now.
