DESKTOP PUBLISHING

It seems like desktop publishing has been around since the Ten Commandments went viral. But we didn’t realize how sophisticated it has become until we tried the new “PagePlus x6” from Serif.com.

For a $99 program, this thing is remarkably versatile. It makes brochures, business cards, logos, stationery, e-books for Kindle and tablets, etc. It lets you alter a PDF (which are normally unalterable) or create PDFs that can be filled in as forms on the Web. It has the full scale of Pantone colors for professional printing. It includes photo editing. We found it easy and fun to use. Much of it is simple drag and drop. The website has lots of video tutorials.
